HISTORY OF
NORTHUMBERLAND HEIGHTS
Every place has a history - a history which makes that Place. History enables people to discover their own place in the stories of their families, communities, and nation. Today we are sharing the history of Northumberland Heights.
Originally the property was a farmhouse (still the oldest section of the property) owned by a German family (Mike Theile) who converted it into a restaurant serving exclusive German Cusine – especially the German Schnitzel. In 1970, Mike and his Chef Sadie gained so much popularity that people use to come by chopper, just to enjoy the schnitzel and high end liquor.
Over the years with the success of the venture the family added a dining room, a banquet hall and 14 rooms for the guests to stay over.
From the 1980s the property changed several hands and finally in 2006 it was bought by Meena Devi, who re-launched it on Mother’s day in May 2006. She retained the name “Northumberland Conference and Retreat Center” and it operated as a restaurant and hosted weddings. It also became a retreat for writers and a center for yoga and meditation.
After acquiring the property, in 2015, we upgraded all the existing facilities to International Luxurious Standards and introduced the well known traditional Indian regimes of Ayurveda, which are acclaimed and accepted worldwide.
Today, Northumberland Heights is proud to offer our valued patrons a range of facilities not only towards a complete International Wellness Experience, but also world class high tech facilities for Corporate events, Conferences, Weddings, Parties & Celebrations, Fine Dining or just a Weekend Getaway.
FOUNDERS
In 2007, Karan joined the family owned OZONE GROUP - a business house with several verticals spread all over the Indian sub-continent. He worked and excelled in the various aspects of the business but was always passionate and had a desire to expand their business presence internationally. After exploring several opportunities he decided to get into the hospitality business. India being known for its hospitable culture; he decided to set up a venture to bring the same to the western world.
Karan being a frequent traveler to Canada started looking for properties to establish and carry out his dream. While searching online he kept coming across a historical property “Northumberland Heights”.
On his first visit he fell in love with the property at first sight and decided to establish his hospitality venture there.

Born out of that desire to share Internationally acclaimed Indian Hospitality combined with an International standard wellness retreat. In 2015 the OZONE GROUP acquired the ownership of “Northumberland Heights” and established a Wellness Resort and Spa.
The new age individual moving on the fast track recognizes the need to take a break. One is constantly searching for a retreat for Holistic remedies and rejuvenating locales.
